The toe-to-toe battle of the Western Conference semifinals has ended with heartbreak for the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Dallas Mavericks won game 6 with a single point in the final moments of the thrilling matchup. OKC’s MVP candidate had an incredible game, but his one mistake cost the team the game.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was the key player for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the final moments. The star scored an essential three-pointer, made a crucial free throw, and had the assist that gave the Thunder the lead. But he fouled P.J. Washington on the last possession and lost the game. SGA was disappointed in himself and admitted his mistake in the press conference.

In the back-and-forth game, the Thunder had a one-point lead with four seconds left in regulation. As the Dallas Mavericks had the final possession, Gilgeous-Alexander made the mistake of fouling Washington on the three-point line. Washington made two of his three free throws, which were enough for the Mavs to take a one-point lead to close out the game.
SGA gave his all on the court scoring the game-high 36 points, three rebounds, and eight assists. The score was his playoff high of the season, and he had zero turnovers while making 56% of the field goals. But his performance came up short in the season-ending game.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander does not want to look at the final foul
The foul is going to leave a mark on Gilgeous-Alexander, as Washington would have missed the shot regardless of SGA’s involvement. The Thunder also reviewed the play, but the call was overturned as it was a clear foul.
Gilgeous-Alexander was certainly gutted by the final possession, as he stated that he should have let Washington miss the shot. The foul was the small mistake that the Thunder had been discussing throughout the season. Further, SGA revealed that he cannot look at the replay of the foul in the press conference.
