Sergio Perez the six-time Grand Prix winner has been on an extremely torrid run during the 2024 F1 season. He has yet to win a race and is currently in seventh place in the Driver’s Championship.

Moreover, Max Verstappen has been the one who has almost single-handedly kept Red Bull in the lead of the Constructors Championship. Keeping all this in view, Red Bull’s Chief Engineer, Paul Monaghan has talked about the aspect that could help Sergio Perez perform better.

Without wishing to be dismissive of your question, I think it is one better posed to Checo himself if you are going to ask what's changed for him. In terms of the car, if this aero level suits him a little bit better relative to the opposition, then it is easier for him to be quicker in the field.

Perez had a good start to the 2024 season scoring four podiums in the first five races. However, since then, he has been on a downward spiral, and the perfect example of this was seen in Spa, starting the race from second place, he kept slipping backward and ended his outing with a disappointing seventh-place finish.

Everyone is ‘capable’ of driving for Red Bull within its pool of drivers

Sergio Perez has a contract under his belt until the end of 2026 but it is debated that he could be moved aside ahead of 2025. Amidst the rumors, Paul Monaghan has admitted that Daniel Ricciardo, Liam Lawson, Yuki Tsunoda, and Sergio Perez are all capable of driving for the team next year.

I think any of our drivers could step in. Liam could, as could Yuki [Tsunoda], as could Daniel [Ricciardo], as could Checo, they are all capable of driving the car. But it is a question for Christian [Horner] and Helmut [Marko].

The 2024 F1 season has only 10 races remaining on the calendar. Taking this into consideration, all the upcoming events have the potential to make or break Perez’s career with Red Bull. The Mexican has been driving for them since 2021 and would ideally, like to continue with the Austrian giant for as long as possible.
