Even before the NHL 23 cover was released, people all over social media started posting ideas about their own favorites, which didn’t include Anaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras and Olympian forward Sarah Nurse. The two forwards made history after EA Sports announced them as the stars of the NHL 23, on Wednesday.
Zegras is the first Ducks player to be featured on the NHL 23 cover, while the same goes for Canada women’s national hockey team player Sarah. EA Sports made their announcement on the Twitter account, which incurred both praise and criticisms over their choice. On the following day, EA Sports released a trailer of the game on their YouTube channel.
Are Trevor Zegras and Sarah Nurse the correct choice?
In a press release, Sarah noted, “It is such a tremendous honor to be the first woman on the cover of the EA SPORTS NHL franchise”. “Hockey is really for everybody and I’m excited that NHL 23 is celebrating the diversity and inclusivity of the sport. I hope that the increased representation of women in such a prominent game will inspire young girls everywhere to know that there is a place for them in hockey.”

While Sarah led Canada to win the gold medal in the 2022 Beijing Olympics, setting a record for most assists with 13 and 18 points. EA Sports NHL 23 is going to be released on October 14.

Makar, MacKinnon, Marner, Sid, etc. Zegras is a good young talent but he’s not in the same sentence as those players. And the game is NHL 23, not Olympic athlete hockey 23.
