BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — The Nampa Parks and Recreation Department has opened Huckleberry Dog Park, a 9.5-acre facility featuring enclosed dog play areas, paved walking loops, water stations, drinking fountains, open spaces, restrooms, and parking.
Located on Smith Avenue between Middleton and Midway Road, Huckleberry Dog Park welcomed neighbors, friends, and their pets for its grand opening. The park's amenities, including a splash pad, have generated excitement among the community.
"We're super excited about the splash pad because our dog isn't a big swimmer," one local said. "It's great that he can get wet without having to get in the water."
Huckleberry Dog Park offers more than just a splash pad. Visitors can watch their dogs play, throw frisbees, and socialize with fellow dog owners.
"Dog park people are always nice. People who love their dogs are good people," another visitor commented.
Previously, Nampa had only one dog park, which was one of the city's most frequented parks. The addition of Huckleberry Dog Park is expected to alleviate overcrowding.
"We think it's great that there are more opportunities for people to spend time outdoors with their pets," a community member said. "It's amazing to have something like this in an agricultural area. We fully support it."
Huckleberry Dog Park is a new hub for both dogs and their owners to socialize and enjoy the outdoors.
