Just a quick little guide as to how to use stratagems while running on kb+m.
Guide to Use Stratagems While Running
Equipment
First for best results I suggest some new peripherals as they have worked great for me. A Razer Tartarus V2 and a Razer Naga Pro. The mouse could be substitued with any other but I like the naga pro as it has a 6 button side plate that gives me all the rest of the buttons that I need in a small form factor compared to the 12 plate.
The Razer Tartarus V2 is a high recommendation though because it makes your thumb do more than it would on a normal keyboard. For instance, if you think about a normal keyboard all your thumb ever tends to hit would be spacebar, whereas with the Tartarus your thumb has a spacebar, circle button, and dpad. The dpad is crucial in allowing quick inputs separated from movement.
Setup
Now that you have the equipment setting up the dpad on the Tartarus to arrow keys and assigning the stratagem inputs to arrow keys as well will allow you to input stratagem codes separate from your movement keys without having to let go of anything important. Also assigning a button on the side of your mouse to the stratagem menu is important as then you can hold down the button on your mouse without letting go of anything crucial.
And that’s pretty much it, I also like setting my map button to a separate button other than tab as that way I can look at it and sprint without opening up the steam overlay and having your weapon swap keys on the side of your mouse can help a lot too, that’s why I like the six button side plate.
Hope this intrigues at least a couple people as this is very helpful when trying to outrun a charger or just a bug horde and still be able to call in reinforcements or other stratagems.
